They are, in every sense, bis-cotti (twice baked), but not everyone knows that Cantucci first meet the oven as long loaves, only to be sliced before their second bake. It’s precisely this cut that gives them their unmistakable texture and ensures their long and precious shelf life.
Softened when dipped into their eternal companion, Vin Santo, Cantucci are delightful on their own, or served with whipped cream or custard. Almond Cantucci
In Latin, canto meant a small part, while cantellus referred to a piece (or slice) of bread. No one knows for sure which of the two gave this beloved biscuit its name, but both have helped make it known and loved all over the world. In its most typical and traditional recipe, the Almond Cantuccio captures all the reasons to fall in love with this biscuit’s unique crunch and unmistakable flavor. And even if etiquette tells us not to dip biscuits into wine, who could resist? The classic Vin Santo or a glass of raisin wine are historically the ideal company, but also in tea and coffee Cantuccio is transformed and acquires an irresistible softness as its taste.
